Ever since her time in law school, Angela Brunicardi has been driven by her desire to help people get through a difficult period in their lives.
“I always want it to be a situation where the client will someday look back on a tough time they were having and say that having an attorney made it better for them,” Brunicardi says.
A Parkersburg native, Angela received both her undergraduate and law degrees from West Virginia University. She joined the Jan Dils Law Firm after law school, where she had the opportunity to participate in the school’s immigration law clinic.
For nearly two semesters, Angela and her classmates represented a man who was on the brink of being deported and separated from his family. As a result of the law students’ work, however, he was able to remain in West Virginia.
“We filed all of the paperwork, prepared all of the briefs and appeared before the judge for him,” Angela says. “It was a very rewarding experience.”
Angela also served an internship in the Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield legal department and clerked in the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals under the late Justice Joseph P. Albright.
As member of the Dils team, she focuses on representing clients in Social Security benefits hearings and appeals.
“So many of my clients are nervous about their hearings, and they’re going through a difficult time,” she says. “That’s why I want to be a reassuring voice of reason for them. I have a lot of compassion for them, and I hope that’s something they can sense when I’m working with them.”
In her free time, Angela enjoys reading, watching movies and spending time with her family.
“I have very big family, and I’m fortunate that all of them live so close to me,” she says. “For me, it’s all about family.”
